Davidovich Fokina: »Alt kommer til den, der kan vente«
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina started strong in the Barcelona tournament this Tuesday by defeating Stan Wawrinka.
In the post-match press conference, he was asked about his first ATP title, which still hasn’t come despite reaching three finals.
The Spaniard replied: »They say that everything comes to those who wait. I’ve had the privilege of playing two finals this season, one of them with multiple match points, so I’d rather lose in the final than early in the tournament.
If the title comes and then I get knocked out in the first round of three tournaments… well, I’d rather keep losing finals.
The opportunity could have come in Monte-Carlo, but Charly (Alcaraz) played pretty well, that bastard (laughs). The important thing is to be ready every week, prepared for any challenge.«
Davidovich Fokina will face Andrey Rublev this Thursday for a spot in the quarterfinals in Barcelona.
